Director, National Center for Nanoscience and Technology
Professor Chen Wang is currently serving as the director of National Center for Nanoscience and Technology of China. From 1994 to 1995, he was a professor in Department of Physics, Central China Normal; University. He joined the faculty of Institute of Chemistry in 1995, the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Prior to joining the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology of China, he was the Director of the Laboratory for Molecular Nanostructures and Nanotechnology at the Institute of Chemistry.
He received B. Sc. from University of Science and Technology of China and Ph. D in Physics from University of Virginia in 1986 and 1992, respectively. He is also an adjunct Professor of Department of Chemistry of Peking University, Jilin University, Central China Normal University. During 2002 and 2003, he is a visiting scholar at University of California at Berkeley through Berkeley Scholar Program.
Professor Chen Wang and his colleagues have worked on the applications of scanning probe microscopy in surface characterizations and fabrications. His recent studies revealed several novel effects in organic and biomolecular self-assembling. He is also engaged in the investigation of molecular devices based on principles of molecular self-assembling. He has published over 200 peer-reviewed papers in international journals.
