Kerri Wright Platais

Kerri Wright Platais joined the Meridian Institute’s Washington D.C. office in January of 2009, with over 20 years of work experience in the international development arena. With experience ranging from agricultural research, policy design and organizational development, Ms. Platais has specialized in research and development in several countries including living and working in Haiti, Thailand, El Salvador and Costa Rica.

Areas of expertise include biotechnology, plant genetic resources, natural resource management, community development, monitoring and evaluation, knowledge management, and organizational design and implementation for international consortia and multilaterals including the World Bank, USAID, and the Consultative Group for International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). In 2007 Ms. Platais joined the Global Crop Diversity Trust (responsible for the funding of the Global Seed Vault in Svalbard, Norway) as the Sr. Program Officer, focused on fund raising and communication efforts in the U.S. for the Rome-based organization. Earlier Ms. Platais worked with the Corporate Secretariat of the World Bank (with the Committee on Development Effectiveness, CODE), USAID (in community based microfinance work and organic farming cooperatives, while based in El Salvador) and as Coordinator of the International Plant Biotechnology Network, funded by USAID.

Ms. Platais holds a B.A. in Social Sciences and a Masters in Agronomy from Colorado State University.
