Born 1942 in Perth, Scotland.   Electrical engineering education: B.Sc. – University of Abertay, Scotland;   M.Sc., Ph.D. - University of Aberdeen, Scotland.
   
    Wife - Jenny, and children – Rachel and Gregor.
    Came to Canada 1970:   Ottawa (BNR) - 5years;    Edmonton (AGT) - 4years.

Professional Engineer (P.Eng., C.Eng., M.I.E.E., M.I.E.E.E.)
“LUTW University Professor” – University of Calgary, Canada  - 1983 - Present.
Research Expertise  -  Solid State Lighting, Renewable Energy, Fiber Optic Sensors and Communications, and Biophotonics.

Research Projects:

Design of Renewable Energy based Solid State Lighting systems for the Developing World.
Founder Light Up The World (1997).
LUTW has facilitated the introduction of safe, healthy, reliable, efficient and affordable Solid State Lighting (White Light Emitting Diode) systems in nearly 20,000 rural homes in 53 countries.
The optical properties of biological tissue with regard to the measurement of strain and the healing process, and  intercellular photonic communication.
The use of the fiber optic gyroscope in the precision drilling of horizontal oil and gas wells. The networking of fiber optic electrical current (AC & DC) sensors.
Commercial: Co-Founder of Visionary Lighting & Energy Inc. (2007)
